Steering Lock Repair

The steering lock is a security part that stops the steering wheel from turning when the car is off. When it fails, the steering wheel stays locked, the key does not turn, or the car does not start.

How do you know the steering lock has failed?

• The steering wheel stays locked and does not turn left or right,
• The key does not turn in the ignition,
• A warning about the steering lock appears on the dashboard,
• The car sometimes starts and sometimes does not.

Which cars is it common on?

We see this fault most often on Mercedes cars. It is also common on Renault (especially the Clio), Citroën and Opel.

What not to do
