Key Fob Battery Replacement

The battery of a key fob runs out over time. When the battery is weak, the fob may not open the door, or may work only from close up. When the battery is completely dead, you cannot open the car door with the fob.

Changing the battery

The battery is changed by opening the cover of the key. The battery type depends on the key: some keys have a replaceable button battery, others have a rechargeable one. If a fob’s battery runs out quickly, the cause may need to be checked separately.

How do I open the door when the battery is dead?

Most keys have a mechanical key inside or at the back that comes out with a button. Even when the battery is dead, you can open the door with this mechanical key.

If it still does not work after the battery change
